We are taking increasing numbers of calls from beneficiaries asking us to raise their grant award as the vehicle they are ordering is currently unavailable or has a long delivery time.
We award in line with our policies and with thorough consideration of the information submitted in the application. This is essential to ensure we support as many beneficiaries as possible with the charitable funds available. For this reason, we will only consider increasing a grant award to speed up delivery of a vehicle in exceptional circumstances, such as when the beneficiary has a life-limiting condition.
The global car market has faced many challenges over the last 18 months, including supply issues caused by uncertainty over Brexit and the impact of Covid-19 on both production and sales. The car industry is now experiencing a new challenge with stock levels and vehicle build times due to the global shortage of semiconductors, or ‘chips’, and availability of new cars may be further restricted in the coming months as a result.
Charitable Grant lead times
Following the easing of the national lockdown restrictions across the UK and the re-opening of vehicle dealerships, we are experiencing a significant increase in call volumes to our Charitable Grants Department.
We welcome calls from beneficiaries however due to increased demand, this may result in longer call wait times to speak to a case manager. It is currently taking up to six weeks for an assigned case manager to commence the review of an individual grant application. Please do not contact us to check the status of your application as this will cause further delays.
Please read our updated Charitable Grant FAQs in which you will find helpful guidance regarding each stage of an application.
We thank you for your understanding and patience whilst we work through the applications in as timely manner as possible.
